This week across the school the children have participated in an exciting ‘Maths Week’. Children have rotated around classrooms to experience different activities including setting up bank accounts, supermarket offers, money problem solving, being smart shoppers, budgeting for new playground equipment and much much more! We also thoroughly enjoyed a theatreperformance, ‘The Miscalculation of Cap'n Half-Inch’ which was a swashbuckling tale of hidden treasure and mathematical conundrums based on the new maths curriculum.
Children participated in a treasure hunt of mathematical questions which were scattered around the lower and upper school corridors. Also the lower school set up a market stall where they could travel around the world like the British adventurer ‘Phileas Fogg’ and collect souvenirs along the way! All in all the children and staff had a fantastic week with lots of real life learning taking place.
“I really enjoyed Maths Week as there was loads of activities.
I especially enjoyed going to Darwin class where we worked on halves and quarters.” — Lily C (Drake class)
